Agency NC State Highway Patrol Division State Capitol Police Job Classification Title Police Officer Supervisor I (S) Position Number  Grade SW08

About Us

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur.

State Troopers are committed to protecting North Carolina's motoring public.

Description of Work

Step into a leadership role where your experience and dedication help safeguard our state’s most important institutions. As a North Carolina State Capitol Police Sergeant, you will lead a team of officers, oversee daily operations, and ensure the safety and security of state employees, officials, and the public. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact while advancing your law enforcement career in a dynamic and rewarding environment performing as a first line supervisor over Public Safety Officer positions.

In the absence of the superior officer, the Public Safety Supervisor assumes complete supervisory duties for the operating unit.
