Internal Audit Intern at NC Department of Public Safety

Join NC DPS as a part‑time Summer Intern in the Internal Audit Section.

The internship starts on August 24, 2026, ends on October 23, 2026, and is hybrid, up to 30 hours per week at $15.00 per hour.

• Conduct audits with audit teams.
• Review policies for changes.
• Assist the Audit Manager and Audit Director with special projects.
• Help ensure divisions comply with state, federal and local government policies related to safeguarding departmental assets.
• Identify and prevent fraud, waste and abuse in the agency.

The DPS Internal Audit Section provides independent reviews and analyses of various functions and programs within the Department, offering management with information, analysis, appraisals, recommendations and pertinent comments to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The section covers compliance, financial, performance, special reviews, follow‑up, consultation and IT audits.

Interns will be hired through Temporary Solutions, a state temporary employment agency. As a temporary position, no leave or retirement benefits are offered.
