The mission of the Department of Population Health and Pathobiology is to recruit, train, inspire, and graduate Doctors of Veterinary Medicine of exemplary knowledge, skill, and character. North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is a dynamic community whose members are dedicated to preparing veterinarians and veterinarian scientists while advancing animal and human health from the cellular level through entire ecosystems. This Assistant/Associate Professor position requires in‑depth knowledge and experience in the delivery of instruction in parasitology with an emphasis on large animal (equine and production animal) parasites. The position will also fulfill diagnostic responsibilities mainly through the teaching hospital, including consultations for external entities, and will provide diagnostic and consulting services consistent with the college’s emphasis on high‑quality care and support of producers in North Carolina.
TeachingResponsibilities
The candidate will be integral in the development of instruction in parasitology for veterinary students, and a strong interest in teaching is required. Teaching responsibilities will focus on the training and assessment of preclinical veterinary students, including participation in didactic courses, labs, and elective classes. This position will also include training of veterinary students and farm animal house officers in the clinical setting.
Researchand Clinical Service
Interaction with livestock producers and the swine, poultry, and equine industry is expected. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent research program focused on large animal parasitology and secure extramural funding from federal, state, foundation, and/or industrial sources.
