Job SummaryProvide physical therapy services to patients with impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function due to injury, disease, or other causes. Offer prevention and wellness services such as screenings and health promotion. Serve as a resource for the team, participating in orientation of new staff, teaching activities, and adhering to North Carolina state law guidelines.
Work Performed- Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing evaluation data, identifying diagnoses, and developing comprehensive plans of care.
- Collaborate with patients and families to create and update appropriate care plans, setting measurable goals and discharge plans tailored to individual age, lifestyle, and needs.
- Integrate physical therapy within the patient's total needs, environment, and age‑specific considerations.
- Exhibit age‑appropriate competency skills relevant to individual conditions.
- Follow established intervention protocols and adjust care plans as needed.
- Discharge patients when goals are achieved or services are no longer medically necessary, with follow‑up or continuing care as required.
- Maintain competency in evaluations specific to your practice area.
- Consistently meet patient care productivity standards defined for the role.
- Collaborate with supervisors and peers to optimize team productivity.
- Utilize support personnel as appropriate.
- Participate in patient coverage across all divisions within the department as necessary.
- Assess learning needs of patients and caregivers, initiating education in a timely manner.
- Use appropriate educational methods, monitor response, and adjust plans accordingly.
- Ensure patients and families understand how to access further interventions.
- Complete timely, legible documentation meeting departmental and professional standards.
- Deliver clear, concise oral reports.
- Accurately perform required data collection within specified time frames.
- Consistently meet peer review standards.
- Provide clinical education for students (1–2 students for long‑term rotations) and adjust supervisory techniques.
- Participate in outreach and learning activities such as in‑services, referrals, and volunteer interactions.
- Contribute to research activities that enhance clinical outcomes.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to push‑pull, lift‑carry, and transfer patients.
Minimum QualificationsEducation
:
• Bachelor’s degree or certification in physical therapy, with a Master’s or Clinical Doctorate preferred.
Experience
:
None beyond required education, although more experience may be preferred at times.
Licensures & Certifications
:
Current Physical Therapist license in North Carolina.
