Environment Health Safety and Preparedness Officer
Wake Med invites applications for the Environment Health Safety and Preparedness Officer role. The officer will lead daily operational activities for Environment of Care, Life Safety Management, and Emergency Management programs across Wake Med enterprises and the entire system.
OverviewThe Environment Health Safety and Preparedness Officer provides leadership for the development and maintenance of policies and plans, coordinates drills, exercises, and inspections, manages performance improvement projects, and responds to incidents and safety investigations. The officer also serves as a resource for department management and staff, leading committees, task forces, and work groups, and may be required to work nontraditional schedules during emergencies.
Responsibilities- inin: develop and maintain assigned policies and plans
- coordinate and complete assignedیر drills, exercises, and inspections
- manage performance improvement projects and initiatives
- respond to Environment of Care and/or Emergency Management incidents and conduct safety investigations, including required follow‑up actions
- manage regulatory/accreditation inspections and assigned Strategic Performance Improvement Plans
- prepare event/incident action plans and documentation, including quarterly and annual reports
- participate in and/or lead staff training for assigned areas
- participate in and/or lead committees, task forces, and work groups, serving as a resource to management and staff
- perform other duties as assigned and maintain readiness to work during emergencies or events
- remain or return to work as needed for regulatory and emergency requirements

Licensure- Maintain Vehicle Operator Insurability (Required)
- Hospital Incident Command, Hazardous Materials & Waste Technician, State Medical Assistance Team, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification (Required within 1 year of hire)
- Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Transportation certification (Preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Required)
- Associate's Degree in a related field with equivalent experience (Required)
- 3 years of Healthcare Safety and/or Emergency Management experience (Required)
- nid training in Emergency Vehicle Operations colonia (Preferred)
