CAPTRUST is seeking a dynamic Quality Assurance Manager to lead and grow a high-performing QA team responsible for ensuring the quality of mission-critical software solutions. This leader will work in close partnership with the Software Engineering Director to deliver excellence in software, champion agile practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the QA team, promoting a culture of accountability, learning, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the Software Engineering Director and CTO to define and execute the quality strategy aligned with business and technology objectives.
  • Champion agile methodologies, Dev Sec Ops  culture, and continuous delivery within the QA function.
  • Build strong relationships with engineering, product, and business leaders to ensure quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.
Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight
  • Develop and implement robust QA standards, frameworks, and best practices for manual and automated testing.
  • Guide the team in creating and maintaining test strategies, plans, and cases in partnership with developers, business analysts, and project managers.
  • Oversee test execution, results documentation, and continuous refinement of test approaches based on feedback and changing priorities.
Automation & Test-Driven Development
  • Drive the adoption of test automation across all QA activities, ensuring automation is a core pillar of the quality strategy.
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of a comprehensive automated test suite using Playwright, covering web applications, APIs, and critical business workflows.
  • Partner with software engineers to foster a culture of test-driven development (TDD), providing guidance and support as teams transition to writing automated tests as an integral part of the development process.
  • Evaluate and implement best-in-class automation frameworks and tools, continuously improving test coverage, reliability, and execution speed.
  • Monitor automation effectiveness, analyze test results, and drive continuous improvement in automation practices.
  • Mentor and upskill QA team members and software engineers in automation techniques, Playwright scripting, and TDD principles.
Agile & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a key partner in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives), ensuring QA is integrated into all phases of the SDLC.
  • Promote shared accountability for quality and delivery across development and QA teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between QA, engineering, and non-technical stakeholders, translating business needs into actionable quality objectives.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top QA talent.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management for QA staff.
  • Identify training needs and create career development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience managing and developing teams in an agile environment.
Desired Qualifications/Skills
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, test-driven development, and SDLC best practices.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, Playwright, Selenium).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CE (CRM), Azure, and financial services/capital markets.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Web API testing, and automated test suite maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
