We are seeking a Technical Manager to lead our Container Platforms Engineering and Operations team. This role combines technical leadership with people management responsibilities, overseeing a team of 10+ professionals (both FTEs and contractors). The ideal candidate will drive technical strategy, roadmap development, and execution for our container platforms, ensuring reliability and scalability for critical applications on-prem today, and cloud tomorrow (AWS/Azure).

• Strategy & Architecture
  • Define and drive the technical vision and roadmap for container platforms (1-2 years horizon).
  • Architect solutions for Open Shift deployments on bare metal and on-prem environments.
  • Lead modernization initiatives, including Rancher migration and future platform enhancements.
• Platform Engineering & Operations
  • Oversee design, build, and operations of Open Shift clusters, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Implement automation frameworks for provisioning, scaling, and patching.
  • Drive observability, monitoring, and incident response for mission‑critical workloads.
  • Enable cloud integration readiness; support hybrid and multi‑cloud strategies.
• Project Governance & Compliance
  • Provide direction and oversight to IT projects.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to integrate networking, security, and governance.
  • Maintain adherence to regulatory requirements and implement best practices for security, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• People Management
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and contractors.
  • Foster collaboration and build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Drive initiatives independently and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

• Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of experience in Applications development, applications analysis, or systems engineering,
  * or* High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in the same fields.
• Technical Expertise
  • Strong experience with Open Shift (on‑prem and bare metal).
  • Experience with Rancher, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
• Cloud Experience (AWS/Azure) – Highly preferred.
• Leadership Skills
  • Proven ability to lead large technical teams (strategy & HR responsibilities).
  • Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills.

Base pay for this position is generally between $102,000 and $157,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non‑discriminatory factors permitted by law.
