Position: Desktop Support Technician - Sheriff - 2:30pm - 11:15pm

What You'll Be Doing

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) invites applications for the position of Desktop Support Technician within our Computer Technology and Support Services Division. Essential Functions
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for our Deputy, Detention and Support staff, providing essential technical assistance
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing user inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
  • Manage multiple support tickets simultaneously to ensure efficient problem resolution
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues to maintain optimal system functionality
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and articulate technical concepts and terminology clearly to both technical and non-technical team members
  • Image and configure desktop and laptop computers to meet organizational needs
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support as needed
  • Perform all assigned duties after six months of on‑the‑job training on day shift

The Basics (Required

Education and Experience )
  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field
  • Two years of experience in information systems support may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • Valid Driver's License and 'safe' driving record
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred

Education and Experience )
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • Solid understanding of customer service principles and practices
