Design Systems Engineer — WinixxOSAbout Winixx
Winixx Inc. is a New York-based technology holding company operating a portfolio of over 35 SaaS platforms across freight, fleet management, financial infrastructure, and market intelligence. We are now building WinixxOS — a distinctive, AOSP-based operating system powering a full lineup of consumer hardware including phones, tablets, smartwatches, POS devices, and gaming consoles. Founded with a mission to modernize fragmented and underserved industries, Winixx builds technology that removes inefficiencies, creates transparency, and puts more value in the hands of the people doing the actual work.
This is early-stage, high-ownership platform engineering — you would be shaping foundational decisions for a new OS, not implementing someone else's spec.
Role Summary
The Design Systems Engineer bridges design and engineering for WinixxOS, translating the platform's visual design language into the custom widget toolkit and ensuring Winixx Studio's visual layout designer stays in sync with what actually ships on-device.
What You'll Do- Translate WinixxOS design specifications into implemented components in the custom widget toolkit
- Maintain design tokens (color, typography, spacing, motion) across the platform UI
- Work directly with the Winixx Studio team to keep the visual layout designer accurate against real on-device rendering
- Partner with the UI team to reconcile placeholder/abstracted widget layers with the final toolkit as it stabilizes
- Establish contribution guidelines for platform UI components
- Audit UI consistency across device classes and flag divergences from the design system
- Document component usage for internal teams and eventual third-party developer reference
- 4+ years of experience spanning design systems and frontend/UI engineering
- Experience implementing design tokens and component libraries in a custom (non-standard) UI framework
- Strong systems thinking and documentation skills
- Familiarity with Android/AOSP UI concepts is a strong plus
- Comfortable working with evolving specs in an early-stage platform build
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Performance bonus program tied to individual and company milestones
- Visa sponsorship available for the right talent
- Full-time role with a minimum one-year commitment
- Front-row seat at a company building a new OS and hardware ecosystem from the ground up
- Collaborative, mission-driven team environment
- Paid time off and company holidays
- Professional development and continuing education support
