Job Description
Our client is a nationally recognized employment law firm dedicated to protecting employees' rights and achieving outstanding legal results. Their practice covers discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, retaliation, FMLA claims, and other workplace-related matters. As their team continues to expand, they are seeking a talented and motivated Employment Law Associate to join them in advocating for employees across Ohio and beyond.
Salary: $75,000-$90,000
Remote - candidate must reside in North Carolina
Position OverviewWe are looking for an Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience, ideally with a background or strong interest in employment law. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior attorneys on case strategy, litigation, discovery, negotiation, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate is driven, detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, and passionate about advancing workers' rights.
Key Responsibilities- Represent employees in cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, disability accommodations, and other employment issues
- Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and briefs in state and federal court
- Conduct legal research, prepare case analyses, and recommend litigation strategies
- Manage discovery, including drafting requests, responding to opposing counsel, and preparing witnesses
- Participate in hearings, mediations, depositions, and client consultations
- Engage in settlement negotiations and mediation sessions
- Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and manage expectations
- Work with partners and senior attorneys on complex employment matters and trial preparation
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina Bar (or eligible to waive in)
- 2-5 years of litigation experience; employment law strongly preferred
- Solid knowledge of federal and state employment laws (Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.)
- Exceptional written, verbal, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work independently when needed
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach
- Genuine passion for fairness and employee advocacy
- Direct experience handling employment law claims (administrative or litigation)
- Familiarity with EEOC or state civil rights agency processes
- Prior work on discrimination, harassment, or retaliation cases
- Deposition or courtroom experience
