Job Description

Pretty Alright Goods makes greeting cards and gifts with a sense of humor. We’re looking for a Social Media Manager who can bring that personality to our Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook accounts through original ideas, sharp writing, and content people actually want to watch and share.

This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role: you’ll create the content and manage the accounts, not supervise a team or manage paid advertising. Your primary focus will be growing brand awareness and supporting online sales, with occasional content for our wholesale audience.

You’ll bring ideas and work independently to execute them, with collaboration, feedback, and approval from our Director of Sales and other team members.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop ideas and manage the content calendar. Propose original content that fits our brand, alongside content supporting product launches, seasonal shopping, and promotions. Organize the calendar, coordinate approvals, and keep publishing on schedule.
  • Create photos and short-form videos. Plan and attend photography and filming sessions at our Raleigh office every one to two weeks. Shoot and edit product content, behind-the-scenes footage, Reels, Tik Toks, Stories, and other social assets.
  • Write and publish in our brand voice. Develop captions, video hooks, and calls to action that sound like Pretty Alright Goods. Adapt content for Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook rather than treating every platform identically.
  • Engage with our community. Respond to comments, messages, and brand mentions during agreed-upon coverage periods. Engage with customers and relevant accounts, and direct customer-service or wholesale inquiries to the appropriate team members.
  • Measure performance and improve. Track reach, engagement, website traffic, and available sales attribution. Share a straightforward monthly report with recommendations for what to repeat, change, or test.
  • Collaborate on broader marketing efforts. Coordinate with our team on campaigns, occasional retailer features, and wholesale-focused content. Support limited creator or influencer outreach as needed. Paid advertising management is not part of this position.

What You’ll Bring

  • Relevant experience and examples of your work. Experience creating content and managing social accounts for a business or brand. Two or more years of relevant experience is preferred, but your portfolio matters more than a specific number of years.
  • Hands-on production skills. You can shoot appealing product photos, film and edit engaging short-form videos, and create simple graphics using tools such as Cap Cut, Canva, Adobe applications, or similar software.
  • Strong writing and creative judgment. You have a good sense of humor, can adapt to an established brand voice, and know when a trend fits—and when to leave it alone.
  • Organization and initiative. You bring ideas, manage deadlines, incorporate feedback, and follow through without needing step-by-step direction. You can use performance data to make practical recommendations.
  • Availability for recurring content sessions in Raleigh. Most work can happen remotely, but you must be able to attend photography and filming sessions at our office every one to two weeks.

Experience with consumer products, e-commerce, gifting, or lifestyle brands is a plus. Comfort appearing on camera is helpful but not required.

Location: Hybrid — Raleigh, NC

Compensation: $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience and portfolio

Reports to: Director of Sales

Schedule and Working Arrangement

This position offers flexibility in when and where you complete most of your work. In-person content sessions, team check-ins, deadlines, and community-response coverage will be coordinated in advance.

The expected workload is 20–25…
