Veterinary Assistant

Banfield Pet Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant 5054 in Raleigh, NC to support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high quality care for all pets.

• Act as extra eyes, ears and hands to ensure best pet care and maximize productivity.
• Communicate with veterinarians, technicians and associates to maintain patient flow.
• Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times.
• Prepare and perform procedures that do not require assistance.
• Monitor hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed under state practice acts.
• Educate clients on wellness plans and preventive care.
• Maintain accurate medical charts and client history.
• Use safe restraining techniques and maintain clean, sterile treatment areas.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.

• Completion of a NAVTA‑approved Veterinary Assistant program or equivalent education, training and experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved programs at efficiency level.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform duties involving radiography and exposure to radioactive substances.
• One year related customer service experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multi‑tasking abilities.

Must be able to work weekends, evenings and often more than 40 hours per week. Requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and manipulating up to 50 lbs. Requires good hand‑eye coordination and visual acuity. Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch and to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards.

Competitive pay $16.00‑$21.00 per hour and opportunities for career growth.
