Role

Summary:

The NDE Technician is responsible to ensure Flowserve products and equipment are inspected, manufactured, assembled, calibrated, and tested according to Flowserve procedures and certifying agency requirements. This position will require the retention of certification records. The NDE Technician will also work with engineers and other technicians on basic design.

Responsibilities:
  • Calibrate, adjust, and maintain all measuring devices, gages and test equipment.
  • Collect and maintain calibration records electronically and in paper form (where applicable).
  • Run reports and track costs associated with gage calibration, repair, and replacement.
  • Oversee and assist in all outsourced calibration. Assure that all outsourced calibration is traceable as per standards outlined by the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST). Including preparing of purchase orders for calibrating of gages.
  • Repair and/or replace all damaged gages; both in-house (where capability exists) and outsourced, where necessary.
  • Evaluate new and improved methods of inspection to trim inspection time and increase accuracy.
  • Inspect to ensure that all components comply with the quality standards.
  • Perform audits and inspections of suppliers, manufacturing processes, final product.
  • Create NCR’s and CAR’s to communicate non-conforming product issue to the responsible people.
  • Verify customer requirements are met on products through manufacturing, assembly, and test.
  • Understand the assembly and functioning of products for checking of completeness and quality at final inspection.
  • Help write, review, and implement quality procedures.
  • Train shop personnel in the proper use and care of measuring and test equipment.
  • Assist in the justification process for new or improved gauging and test equipment needs.
  • Repurpose and/or inventory all unused gages for dispersal to other sites as equipment needs dictate.
  • Provide consulting support and/or assist in gauging and calibration audits.
  • Assist in other QA areas if required.
  • Know associated national, international, and industrial standards.
  • Identify and implement testing procedures for certified equipment.
  • Update certification records as products and standards are changed.
  • Operate PMI and Spectrometer Analyzer for metal analysis and verification.
  • Implement programs for collection of data to be analyzed for continuous ongoing quality improvement.
  • Help resolve field problems associated with certified products.
  • Meet with vendors to establish Flowserve Quality requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures and policies.
  • Ability to use measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • HS Diploma / GED and 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Experience with diagnostic testing.
  • Understand NDE (radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic examination)
  • Must be willing to achieve SNT-TC-1A & ISO
    9712 Certifications
  • Experience in quality control or quality assurance inspection.
  • Experience in the electronic manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to inspect electronic PCBA’s including soldering, potting and conformal coat requirements.
  • Ability to operate a Multimeter.
  • Experience/knowledge of Hazardous Location requirements for Explosion Proof, Intrinsically Safe and Non-Incentive designs.
  • ASTM standards as applicable to material requirements and QA codes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and basic computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
