Position Overview
Persephoni Bio Partner seeks a motivated Research Technician / Associate to support discovery‑stage research in our Durham, NC RTP laboratory. This hands‑on bench role focuses on executing cell culture and RNA‑based workflows that generate high‑quality, decision‑driving data across multiple therapeutic programs.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain mammalian cell cultures (cell lines and primary cells) using aseptic technique (BSL‑2) and perform routine passaging, cell counting, and cryopreservation.
- Execute RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and RT‑qPCR for multiple targets and samples, operating and troubleshooting qPCR systems, thermal cyclers, and plate readers.
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data (ΔΔCt calculations) and generate tables and figures using Excel and/or Graph Pad Prism.
- Maintain accurate, industry‑grade experimental records in an electronic lab notebook (ELN) and ensure laboratory spaces are clean, stocked, and functional.
- Collaborate with scientists to optimize protocols, resolve experimental issues, and support multiple therapeutic programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related science field required.
- 2–4+ years of hands‑on laboratory experience in academic or industry research settings (industry experience preferred).
- Strong proficiency in mammalian cell culture and experience with RNA isolation and RT‑qPCR.
- Familiarity with RNA‑handling best practices and RNase‑free techniques.
- Experience generating and interpreting primary experimental data, not merely running protocols.
- Experience with ELNs and structured record‑keeping preferred.
- Comfortable analyzing experimental data using Excel and/or Graph Pad Prism; basic statistical concepts (mean, SD, etc.).
- siRNA or oligonucleotide‑based experiments, flow cytometry, fluorescent imaging, or molecular cloning experience.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team environment.

Employment Type& Compensation
Full‑time, 6‑month contract (potential conversion). Hourly rate $30–$38 per hour, commensurate with experience. Non‑exempt (hourly). Must be authorized to work in the United States.
