Temporary Greenhouse Technician

Job Overview

This job is to assist MPRU staff‑members with specific tasks.

• Watering greenhouse/screen house MPRU plants.
• Taking care of greenhouse plants (potting, repotting, pruning, cleaning and maintenance).
• Massive propagation of sweet potato clean stock in the tissue culture lab and the greenhouse.
• Pest and weed control of assigned greenhouses.
• Cleanup of lab material (washing tissue culture magenta boxes, autoclaving and trash disposal).
• Receive training for all these activities for all crops currently grown at the MPRU (sweet potato, berries and muscadine grapes).

20-30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm;
Weekends and holidays 8am – 12pm.

The successful candidate will have the combination of training and experience required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
