The Department of Physics & Astronomy provides high quality Physics instruction, educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and outreach programs that advance scientific knowledge. Our research programs cover a diverse spectrum including astrophysics, general relativity, condensed matter theory and experiment, computational physics, biophysics, nanoscale science, physics education, experimental nuclear physics, particle and nuclear theory, experimental optics, and experimental atomic and molecular physics.
JobOverview
We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate for a primary purpose of research in Quantum field theory. The position is supported by funds from the Simon Collaboration on Confinement and QCD Strings and will work in collaboration with Mithat Unsal and other faculty, postdocs, and students of the nuclear theory at North Carolina State University.
Responsibilities- Conduct non‑perturbative research in quantum field theory, focusing on confinement, phases of matter, and particle and nuclear physics.
- Collaborate with faculty and postdocs on projects in the Simon Collaboration on Confinement and QCD Strings.
- Present scientific findings at conferences, seminars, and in written publications.
- Provide graduate student advising and mentoring in the nuclear theory group.
- Participate in departmental teaching and outreach activities as appropriate.
- Ph.D. in Physics or related field with a strong background in quantum field theory.
- Research experience in non‑perturbative aspects of quantum field theory, confinement, phases of matter, and particle and nuclear physics.
- Strong publication record and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills in both oral and written forms.
- Graduate teaching and mentoring experience preferred but not required.
Anticipated salary range: $62,000 – $65,000 per year. Full benefits package and opportunities for professional development are available.
