The Electrician - Water Plant position is part of the Plant Industrial Trades Series, devoted to journey-level skilled trades work in the construction, alteration and repair of utility plant facilities and equipment. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and control equipment supporting the operations of a large‑scale water treatment and pumping facility. This role ensures the continuous and safe operation of medium‑voltage power distribution, motor control centers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), SCADA systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and instrumentation critical to water treatment, distribution, and pumping processes.

• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical and control system issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure.
• Update wiring diagrams and control schematics.
• Ensure work complies with NEC, local codes, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate closely with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams.
• Manage technical documentation, maintain records, determine material needs, and manage inventory.
• Respond to emergency repairs due to inclement weather or other events.

You possess exceptional diagnostic and problem‑solving capabilities, with a proven ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints. • Perform journey‑level electrical work, including installation, maintenance, and repair of process instrumentation, electrical controls, power distribution, process equipment, power generation, and automation systems for water treatment plants and remote facilities.
• Provide direction and review the work of other electricians.
• Troubleshoot electrical distribution infrastructure, equipment, and systems to identify and resolve issues.
• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and maintain security, fire alarm, and access control systems.
• Manage technical documentation, maintain records, determine material needs, and manage inventory.
• Respond to emergency repairs as needed due to inclement weather or other emergency events.

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and 1 to 3 years' experience as a journey‑level electrician or related work. OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.

• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
