Take a key role in the development of best‑in‑breed financial applications aimed at providing consumers leading‑edge tools to maintain their financial life. The primary responsibility is to create RESTful Java APIs for rendering data to the front end.
Note:
This position is based in an office‑centric environment. The work schedule requires employees to be on‑site four days per week, with one day remote.
- Work as a technical expert with product, analysts, programmers and other team members to develop technical solutions to complex business problems.
- Responsible for complex program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
- Recommend improvements to existing software programs.
- Publish builds through the pipeline to deploy code to AWS.
- Instruct, direct and quality‑assure the work of other developers and analysts.
- Gather client requirements, analyze, design and create complex application solutions.
- Prepare detailed specifications from which complex programs will be written.
- Adhere to J2EE design principles.
- Brainstorm new features and train the team on them.
- Provide application support including complex problem research, analysis, resolution and on‑call.
- Closely work with iOS and Android front‑end developers for designing API requirements.
- Coordinate with other core component teams to integrate REST APIs with backend core components.
- Bachelor’s Degree and four to seven years of experience or equivalent education and software engineering training or experience.
- In‑depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.
- Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.
- Ability to plan and manage projects and solve complex problems by applying best practices.
- Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates; interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.
Competencies:
- Core Java/Spring, AWS: 4+ years.
- Strong Java/J2EE skills with hands‑on experience designing and developing REST‑based microservices in AWS (ECS Fargate, SQS, and S3).
- Experience with configuration management principles and tools, particularly Git Lab, Maven, Gradle.
- Hands‑on experience on Continuous Integration and Delivery pipeline creation & maintenance.
- Experience with one or more databases from dev perspective (DB2, MySQL); PL/SQL queries.
- Microservices architecture (Spring Boot and others).
- AWS environment: REST‑based microservices in AWS (EC2, SQS, S3); familiarity with ECS, Elasticache, RDS.
- IaC (Terraform), Docker/Containerization.
- Knowledge of Agile software processes including Scrum and Kanban.
- Good to have experience with monitoring solutions such as Cloud Watch or ELK stack.
- Experience working in a startup, financial industry is a plus.
- Any experience in delivery tools such as Postman, Swagger, SOAP UI.
- Bachelor of Engineering / Computer Science.
- Excellent communication skills.
