Job Description

Site-to-Site VPN is a Tier‑0 service that provides Oracle Cloud customers the ability to securely connect to internal networks and other cloud providers. The service is key for OCI’s customers and the team is focused on scaling it while maintaining high reliability, servicability, and maintainability. With a growing team, we are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help us achieve these high expectations.

We seek an experienced, passionate senior software developer with a strong background in systems programming and a desire to work deeply on operating systems (Linux), network virtualization, and networking protocols (UDP, TCP, BGP). The ideal candidate will collaborate with OCI networking teams, design innovative solutions, and develop high‑performance, highly reliable, scalable VPN services.

• BS/ MS in CS, EE, or related technical field with 6‑10+ years of relevant experience.
• Deep understanding of systems design, programming, and application development.
• Proficiency in C (C++ optional).
• Excellent problem‑solving and debugging skills.

• Experience with computer networks, Linux OS, computer architecture, algorithms, distributed systems, and virtualized compute and networking.
• Knowledge of networking and routing protocols such as TCP, UDP, IP, BGP.
• Familiarity with containerization (Podman), and hypervisors.

The role requires a strong technical contributor, both individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in a relevant field and 6‑10+ years of software engineering or closely related experience in networking, operating systems, and cloud operations.

US:
Hiring range $96,800 - $223,400 per year, with potential bonus and equity.
