The City of Raleigh Police Department is seeking an experienced Inventory and Warehouse Technician. This is non-sworn administrative role consisting of clerical and manual work. The individual in this role will be responsible for receiving, storing and issuing of equipment, material, parts, supplies, merchandise, or tools. The Inventory and Warehouse Technician is responsible for compiling stock records in stockroom, warehouse or storage area.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices
  • Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications
  • Unload trucks and stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material
  • Fills orders or issues supplies from stock
  • Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock
  • Makes adjustments or repairs to articles carried in stock
  • Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location while considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space
  • Moves or transports material or supplies to other departments
  • Maintains inventory, other stock records and equipment
  • Assists customers by looking up parts for different equipment and retrieving parts or placing orders if needed
  • Records part issues on windows database
  • Disposes of uniforms that are no longer serviceable
  • Performs other related duties as required
Required

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency;
Less than 1 year experience in general warehouse/inventory control, or related work; OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Required Licenses or Certifications

Valid NC Class C Driver's License or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
