Mentor, lead, coach and develop employees to achieve safety, cost, quality and delivery goals for assigned designated functional manufacturing area.
Responsibilities- Safety: Responsible for preventing incidents to employees and property; ensure compliance with all health and safety rules and regulations; ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner, and provide support for continuous improvement including training of direct reports.
- Employee Leadership, Development, and Administration: Directly supervises employees; interprets applicable laws; provides guidance, performance feedback, promotes positive morale; studies production schedules, estimates worker hours; carries out supervisory responsibilities; handles interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, appraising, rewarding, disciplining, promoting, addressing complaints, resolving problems, recommending terminations.
- Delivery: Maintain production schedule by coordinating employees, equipment, and customer demand; plan and delegate daily assignments; monitor indicators for gaps and target; analyze gaps for root cause; develop countermeasures.
- Quality: Train employees in quality standards; monitor systems to ensure outgoing product meets quality standards; increase major and key product characteristics to meet division objectives; measure KPIs and demonstrate improvement strategies; ensure procedures followed.
- Cost: Participate and provide input into the budgeting process; monitor departmental spending; control labor and supply expenses.
- Other: Perform other tasks as assigned by manager based on business.
- Education: High School Diploma required;
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. - Experience: Experience in the Optical Industry as it relates to ophthalmic lenses.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven background in ophthalmic optics; excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills; supervisory-level experience required; management-level experience preferred; critical thinking skills; ability to work as a team; basic math; willing to work overtime, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays.
