As a Payroll Specialist, you'll play a vital role in delivering an exceptional employee experience by ensuring accurate and timely payroll for our multi-state workforce. This position is responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, supporting audits and reporting, and driving process improvements across integrated HR and payroll systems.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about delivering accurate results while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and service.
This position follows a hybrid work schedule requiring four days per week in the Ramsey, NJ office and one remote workday per week.
Responsibilities- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely for all eligible employees.
- Review and process payroll transactions including calculation of new hire’s pay, calculations of termination checks, salary changes, bonuses, calculate retroactive pay adjustments, employee tax updates, and review deduction changes.
- Monitor, audit and validate payroll-related workflows between Success Factors, ADP, Workforce Software (WFS), and other integrated systems.
- Transmit payroll files to ADP and verify successful processing and data integrity.
- Calculate and process off-cycle and manual payroll payments.
- Audit and analyze payroll data and reconcile payroll totals by Company including YTD and QTD balances.
- Review and approve timecard corrections and exceptions.
- Generate payroll reports using ADP Reporter and create compliance reports.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with resolutions.
- Process employment verifications and unemployment claims.
- Support payroll audits, garnishments, subpoenas, and regulatory requests.
- Maintain payroll records and confidentiality.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
- Knowledge of accrual bank configurations in time system.
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of payroll processing experience
