Address military conscription in Myanmar - advocate for individuals

civ.works is a privacy-protected social platform built for meaningful civic action. The concept of civ.works is to finally provide a societal machine to stand up against something created nearly 50 years ago - and begin the process of empowering citizens again. We are building a platform together - against an incredibly mature and well-funded machine. Your volunteer efforts will be helping us collectively build something powerful and important.

The military junta in Myanmar has just implemented universal conscription. This creates an urgent situation for all young people in Myanmar. This volunteer opportunity is to build a small team of 2-3 people, who will address both the policy and advocacy aspects of the situation. We need to research what are the possible methods to leave the country or achieve safety in the near term and safely share this information with individuals;

and at a higher level to search for methods to lobby or sanction to press for the end of this policy.

We have some patterns that have been moderately successful in the past, though this is a difficult problem you will at least be able to collect backup contact information for youth who may be affected so we can track their situation. All of our work is a bit serious but we also have a great warm community who support each other in it!
