The OpportunityFunctions as a technical specialist, supervising multidisciplinary engineering staff on medium‑to‑high‑complexity projects. You will be a key reference for technical guidance and influence the scope of responsibilities within the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and B&V policies.
- Ensure compliance with B&V quality program, establish related processes, and promote a quality culture.
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects, including research and recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
- Perform complex engineering calculations, manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements, and develop advanced engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with internal/external team members on complex projects and define project schedules.
- Identify and communicate key client interests and drivers, and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns.
- Mentor lower‑level professionals and identify successors for training.
Supervises the work of others, responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates.
Preferred Qualifications- Strong experience in 69kV to 500kV overhead transmission line design and knowledge of Power Line system programs (PLS, PLS‑CADD, PLS‑POLE).
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
- Client interaction experience with solid relationship‑building abilities in pursuing business opportunities.
- Experience with utility‑scale electrical transmission systems and design of transmission steel structures.
- Structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent experience), minimum of 11 years related work experience, and an active engineering license or registration to support Engineer‑of‑Record (EOR) requirements. Must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements.
CertificationsActive engineering registration or licensure to support Engineer‑of‑Record (EOR) requirements in applicable countries.
Work Environment / Physical DemandsHybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days. This role may be performed at any Black & Veatch U.S. office; relocation may be eligible.
