Senior Overhead Transmission Line Structural Engineer

Black & Veatch is hiring a Senior Overhead Transmission Line Structural Engineer.

As a Senior Structural – Transmission Line Engineer you will support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes, large 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects including HVDC and 765kV, gather data, perform research, develop recommendations, manage budget, schedule and quality, provide guidance to the team, maintain client relations, assist with business development, act as a technical specialist or lead, and apply advanced engineering techniques to expand knowledge in the discipline.

• Provide guidance on design guides, standards, codes and B&V policies.
• Ensure compliance with the quality program and support continuous improvement.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and recommend equipment and materials.
• Perform complex calculations, manage budget, schedule, and quality, and develop advanced solutions.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams and define project schedules.
• Identify key client interests, communicate them to the project team, and accommodate their needs.
• Support business development activities and identify future client requirements.
• Serve as a technical specialist, support multiple projects, and act as an industry expert.
• Oversee performance management, career planning, and provide mentorship to team members.

• Experience in 69kV to 500kV overhead transmission line design and expertise in Power Line system-based programs such as PLS, PLS‑CADD, and PLS‑POLE.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides, and standards for the assigned discipline.
• Client interaction experience building relationships for business opportunities.
• Design of utility‑scale electrical transmission systems.
• Structural design of transmission steel structures and foundations.
• Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 11 years of related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, etc.).

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, performance, and work assignments.
