We are seeking a Junior‑Level Staff Geologist/Hydrogeologist to join the team in Rancho Cordova, CA. The role involves technical support for hydrogeology and water‑resource planning projects throughout California and the western United States. The position has a field component requiring periodic travel, including weekend and overnight trips.
Responsibilities- Provide technical and administrative support for office and field‑based hydrogeology and water‑resource engineering projects with emphasis in the West.
- Perform office and field activities such as logging rock cores or soil borings, overseeing test borings, monitoring wells, groundwater sampling, and construction observation.
- Provide technical oversight to subcontractors, evaluate field activities, and aid in the development of investigation work‑plans.
- Manage data, prepare reports, assist in technical presentations for clients and regulators.
- Review, analyze, and interpret aerial photographs, LiDAR, groundwater‑modeling data, water‑quality trends, and low‑temperature geochemical transformations.
- Conduct literature reviews and compile existing data for analysis.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, permit applications, geologic maps, and cross‑sections.
- Assist in drafting scopes of work, budgets, RFPs, and health & safety plans.
- Execute additional related tasks as assigned.
- B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, Earth Science, or a closely related field; graduate degree(s) and/or equivalent experience are a plus.
- Experience and coursework in hydrogeology, groundwater modeling, and water‑resource planning.
- Solid grasp of basic geologic principles and California geology.
- G.I.T. credential is desirable; P.G. or ability to obtain such a credential is a plus.
- 5–10 years of prior professional experience in geological/geotechnical consulting.
- Proficient computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong communication and technical‑report writing skills.
- Excellent time‑management, organizational, and independent work skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel short‑term (1–5 days) and long‑term (weeks to months) as required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Physical ability to hike mountainous terrain and lift up to 50 lb.
- Team collaboration and self‑direction.
- Proficiency with GIS and/or CAD for geological analyses.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Adobe, and other relevant software.
- Familiarity with standard groundwater flow and water‑quality modeling software.
- Strong desire to develop and keep up‑to‑date mapping and analytical technology.
- Active membership and conference participation, including presentations and technical papers.
- Excellent field observation and data‑collection documentation skills.
