Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be one year of experience working with multi‑age groups of children.

Education:

Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade plus 2 years (48 semester or 72 quarter) of college study, or an Associates Degree or higher, or an Instructional Aide Proficiency Certificate dated after May 2003, which can be administered by ALSD, if needed. Applicants who have received a proficiency certificate are also required to complete a writing assessment administered by ALSD.

IF SELECTED, THE FOLLOWING ARE

REQUIRED:

Fingerprint verification (DOJ & FBI) at an approximate cost of $64 to the employee;
Proof of TB clearance (within 4 years) at employee's cost or a Certificate of Completion signed by a licensed health care provider for the Adult TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire;
Certificate of Completion for the California Mandated Reporter training dated after July 1, 2025.
