Overview
Freight Handler / Warehouse Associate / Unloader – Riverside, CA
Pay Rate: $22.50/hour.
Responsibilities- Operates Forklift and/or Overhead Crane properly and safely.
- Prepares materials to be used for packaging and shipping of finished coils.
- Packages finished coils in a safe manner and moves those coils to a designated location for finished goods.
- Verifies that finished goods (coils) are properly identified with an identification ticket prior to moving them to a storage area.
- Verifies that finished goods (coils) are not damaged or visibly non-conforming prior to moving them to a designated storage area.
- Quarantines non-conforming material (using the HFI process) and notifies Quality Control when non-conforming conditions exist.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Managements systems in place at Blue Scope.
- Responsible for communicating daily with all levels of employees in order to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education And/or
Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or experience - Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend documents including policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence. Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one, in small group situations and settings. - Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to solve problems involving multiple variables in a standard situation. - Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; understand metal and paint characteristics and defects; use of power hand tools; operate forklift and overhead cranes; ability to meet deadlines; ability to work with a diversified workforce; employment offers may be contingent upon passing substance abuse screening and/or criminal background check.
Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, use hands, reach, lift, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work EnvironmentWork near moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals and extreme temperatures. Moderate noise level; PPE may be required in manufacturing areas.
Safety ResponsibilitiesRead and understand the position’s Job Safety Analysis before initiating work. Wear PPE and perform tasks in accordance with safety training and OSHA regulations.
