Responsibilities

An Autonomous Maintenance Operator plays a vital, hands‑on role in ensuring that an organization’s machinery and equipment operate at peak efficiency and are consistently being enhanced. They blend technical expertise with continuous improvement methodologies to drive productivity, quality, waste reduction and safety.

  • Preventive and predictive maintenance: schedule tasks, use analytics to anticipate failures and reduce downtime.
  • Root cause analysis: investigate failures, apply the “5 Whys” methodology to prevent recurrence.
  • Machine optimization: improve cycle time, quality, energy use and ergonomics.
  • Data collection and analysis: collect OEE, MTBF, MTTR and other metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaboration:

    work with operators, engineers and continuous improvement specialists to design and execute improvement projects.
  • Lean & TPM implementation: lead 5S, autonomous maintenance training, Kaizen events and SOP development.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of lean, Six Sigma, TPM and root‑cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Data‑driven mindset and excellent communication.
  • Proactive, initiative‑taking attitude.
  • Experience with PLCs and CMMS.
  • High school diploma or GED (technical or vocational training preferred). 5‑7 years of experience in equipment operation or maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or trade certification in mechanical, industrial or electrical technology.
  • Certificates such as CMRT, MTI.
  • Experience in Lean, Six Sigma or TPM environments.
  • Familiarity with Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
Physical Demands & Environment
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12‑hour shifts).
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and reaching overhead.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Operate tools and machinery in noise, dust, vibration, heat and cold.
  • Occasional work at heights or in confined spaces with safety equipment.
