Critical Engineering, Precision Engineering and Hydronic Engineering.
Performs precision grinding operations on valves components using horizontal and vertical manual grinders by performing the following duties.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Key responsibilities- Set up and operate a variety of production grinding machines, such as, O.D. Grinder, I.D. Grinder, Universal Grinder, Vertical Grinder, Blanchard Grinder.
- Perform general grinding operations to specified tolerances and finishes on component parts and products of any material.
- Select, dress and shape grinding wheels to desired contour.
- Use a variety of grinding wheels, measuring instruments and fixturing devices.
- Select feeds and speeds.
- Operate jib crane.
- Work from blue prints, sketches, and process sheets, written and verbal instruction.
- Detect and report discrepant operations and defective materials.
- Keep work area, machinery, and equipment clean and orderly.
- Maintain necessary records.
- Follow shop order instructions.
- Perform TPMs.
- Cross train in other processes and equipment.

- Must use various types of inspection equipment, such as, micrometers, calipers, gages, scales, dial indicators, protractor, and verniers.
- Must have knowledge of surface finishes.
- Must have the ability to set up own machine using fixtures and tooling.
- Must have knowledge of different types of grinding wheels and how they are best used on various types of materials.
- Must be able to dress and shape grinding wheels to contour needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certified Quality Inspector Certificate is desirable; or
- 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

$28 - $32 an hour, based on experience
