SummaryProvides first line assistant supervisory capabilities within the Security/Courier Services Department to meet and achieve organizational goals and departmental objectives. In the absence of the Shift Captain, serves as the supervisor of the shift.
Responsibilities- Administrative submits accurate written reports and documents findings of investigations.
- Assists the Captain with preparing and submitting accurate incident reports, inspection reports, activity logs, and maintenance requests.
- Reviews and approves security incident reports submitted by officers under their supervision.
- Supervises the completion of patient valuables logs, valuables bag, etc.
- Ensures for the safekeeping of patient valuables coming into Security Department possession.
- Assists the Captain with preparing, reviewing and submitting personnel schedules.
- Coordinates with the clinical staff the ingress and egress of all deceased patients to and from the hospital morgue, insuring that all required documentation is completed per procedures.
- Assists the Captain with conducting performance evaluations with subordinates at regular intervals and documents the appraisals per policy.
- Maintain accurate records to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Enters data into the Kronos time keeping system.
- Performs as the shift supervisor in the absence of the Captain.
- Greets and provides assistance to patients, visitors, and employees at entrances and exits.
- Provides assistance to staff as requested.
- Provides directions to patients, visitors, and employees, escorting them to their destination.
- Collaborates with other departments to solve cross departmental problems. Interacts with and coordinates security services with other Hospital departments.
- Investigates and documents complaints against officers.
- Provides effective leadership and guidance for Security Department personnel. Identifies and recommends improvements in security procedures or processes.
- Trains new employees regarding security procedures.
- Ensures officers have completed all training requirements.
- Assists with scheduling of security officers.
- Anticipates situations and makes recommendations for additional security coverage.
- Coordinates security coverage and acts as on-scene commander in the event of an emergency situation.
- Investigates and reports problems/issues during their shift or areas of responsibility.
- Coordinates security activities with external law enforcement agencies.
- Performs the duties of a security officer, when necessary.
- Assists with supervising the security shift operations.
- Conducts daily roll calls, providing security related information.
- Inspects subordinate's uniforms, issued equipment, etc.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- Minimum 1 year of Security Experience (Hospital preferred); 3+ years of experience preferred.
- Employment is conditional based on obtaining and maintaining Maryland State Police Guard, CPR, Supervisor Certification through the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security, and Fit Testing.
