Join a team where mentorship and momentum go hand in hand
. As a Teacher Assistant at May Institute, you'll provide direct support to children and adolescents (ages 5–21) with Autism and developmental disabilities, using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to help them build real, lasting skills. Many of our TAs use this role as the on-ramp to becoming a teacher or BCBA
, others build a lasting career right where they are. Either way, you'll be joining a team that shows up for you, not just for our students.
- Make a Real, Daily Difference — support lead teachers in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and help students build communication, social, and independence skills using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) — with real, visible progress along the way.
- Never Do It Alone — foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment alongside a full multidisciplinary team and the families you serve — because this work is demanding, but better, and easier, together.
- Watch Growth Happen in Real Time — document student progress and see the direct results of your work, day after day, in the students you support.
- Competitive Pay & Full-Time Stability —$21.50per hour, with room to grow, on a consistent 40-hour, Monday–Friday schedule year-round.
- Comprehensive Benefits — medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement, a 403(b) match, and more. See the full list /careers/benefits.
- A Proven Leader in the Field — for more than 70 years, May Institute has been breaking new ground in treatment and transforming lives. You're joining an organization with a long, proven track record — not a startup still figuring things out.
- Mentorship From a Team That's Been There — you'll learn from a deeply experienced team of leaders, with structured onboarding and smaller caseloads so you're never figuring it out alone.
- Real Career Path — many of our Teacher Assistants already hold a bachelor's degree, often in psychology, education, or a related field, and many go on to become teachers or grow into other roles s role isn't a dead end — it's a documented on-ramp into some of the most rewarding careers at May.
- Real, Visible Impact — the wins here are small and daily: a first word, a shared smile, a skill mastered. Families notice, too, and they tell us so.
- Age 18+, with a current and valid U.S. driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred — candidates with equivalent experience are also encouraged to apply
- Compassion, reliability, and a genuine interest in supporting students with diverse needs
- Patience, resilience, and a collaborative mindset — the first few months take real commitment
- Openness to a brief pre-offer observation, since we're upfront about what the role demands
