5th/6th Boys Division Head - Tamarack Day Camp
Lead, Mentor, and Inspire This Summer. Tamarack Day Camp is seeking a confident, organized, and energetic Division Head for 5th & 6th Grade Boys to join our leadership team. This role is ideal for an experienced camp professional or educator who excels at mentoring staff, building relationships with campers, and creating a positive, structured, and fun environment for upper-elementary boys.
Position OverviewThe 5th & 6th Grade Boys Division Head is responsible for the supervision and leadership of campers and staff within the division. This includes managing counselor teams, supporting camper development, handling parent communication, and working closely with camp administration to ensure consistency, safety, and program excellence. This is a leadership and administrative position with meaningful responsibility and influence.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and support a team of counselors assigned to the 5th & 6th grade boys division
- Oversee daily operations, schedules, transitions, and camper accountability
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured environment for campers
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents within the division
- Address camper behavior concerns with consistency, fairness, and professionalism
- Provide coaching, feedback, and mentorship to counselors throughout the summer
- Conduct informal observations and assist with staff evaluations
- Collaborate with Specialists, Athletics, Aquatics, and Administration
- Assist in planning and executing special events, theme days, and camp-wide programs
- Ensure camp policies, safety procedures, and Tamarack values are upheld at all times
- Previous camp leadership, teaching, or youth supervision experience required
- Experience working with upper-elementary or middle school-aged boys preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage staff while building positive relationships with campers
- Professional and confident in parent communication
- Calm, proactive, and solution-oriented under pressure
- Ability to commit to the full camp summer
