Base pay range$52,000.00/yr - $55,000.00/yr
ResponsibilitiesAssist the Director and Associate Director with implementing in-house projects. Indirectly supervises the Maintenance Mechanic position. Perform minor construction projects under the permits obtained through the Township of Randolph. Projects include constructing new offices/learning spaces based on the College’s Goals & Objectives. Perform and complete a variety of carpentry tasks with quality workmanship to construct, maintain, repair, and modify buildings. Tasks may include measuring and marking materials, repairing/replacing floors (VCT & LVT), walls, doors, installing partitions, installing metal stud framework and ceiling grids/tiles, erecting scaffolding and building wooden structures.
Restore worksites to original condition by removing debris, scaffolding, and equipment used during the projects, and return property, furnishings, and equipment to the proper location. Follow all required safety standards. Read blueprints, sketches, and schematics to determine the necessary materials, equipment, tools, and methods. Assist in maintaining a comprehensive preventative maintenance program pertaining to campus buildings which include, but are not limited to, roofs, doors, and plumbing repairs.
Maintain extensive spare parts inventory for the building repairs of plumbing, hardware, painting, roof supplies, etc. Complete assigned work orders.
Conduct daily building checks which include inspections of designated areas at the start of the shift. Inspect lights, door entrances, restrooms, classrooms, offices, and corridors. Report any problems back to the Associate Director.
Repair minor plumbing problems pertaining to interior and exterior areas of assigned buildings. Includes repair of toilets, sinks, waste lines, water service lines, shutoff valves, sewer lines, traps and faucets. May require occasionally using a plumber’s torch to sweat copper fittings and joints. Perform welding tasks as needed.
Paint interior and exterior surfaces of buildings. Prepare surfaces prior to painting which includes spackling, sanding, and priming before applying topcoat. Areas painted include ceilings, floors, doors, door jams and walls.
Replace interior/exterior light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and ceiling tiles in classrooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, lounge, cafeteria, gymnasium, etc. May require use of a ladder or electric lift. Maintain exterior building surfaces and perform minor masonry repairs, including painting and caulking of joints and surfaces around doors and windows to prevent water penetration.
Perform other duties as assigned which may include, but are not limited to, snow removal, cleaning of entrances to buildings, moving furniture, etc.
