Job Description
This position supports the work of the West Morris Area YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Swim Instructor at the West Morris Area YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swim classes.
Qualifications- Exceptional organizational and leadership skills preferred
- Age 15
- Possesses the desire and demeanor to work well with children

- Individual Membership (eligible for Family Membership after one year of employment)
- 10% off selected West Morris Area YMCA programs (after 90 days of employment)
- With the assistance of other aquatics staff leads and assists in the instruction of swimming lessons that are in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
- Prepares lesson plans and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization; helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement.
- Conveys information on aquatics safety, maintenance, programs and schedules and as appropriate to the Associate Director - Aquatics
- Refers program participants and families to other programs.
- Maintains records as required (e.g., attendance, progress reports).
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
- Participates in special events to promote programs and fundraising activities.
