At Brink Constructors, Inc., the Senior Transmission Estimator is responsible for leading comprehensive estimates for high‑voltage overhead transmission projects (69 kV–500 kV), covering structures, foundations, conductor/OPGW, access/ROW, outages, environmental/restoration, and subcontracted scopes while mentoring junior estimators.
PayThis is an exempt/salary position. The pay range is $100,000 - $130,000. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.
Location/TravelThis position is based out of Brink's Rapid City, SD office. Up to 20% travel required.
What You'll Do- Lead project pursuits, mentor junior estimators, and ensure accurate deliverables by team members
- Detailed Quantity Take‑offs, unit Pricing and Crew build‑ups
- Geo‑Tech and Access modeling
- Vendor/subcontractor quote leveling
- Risk Assessment
- Proposal narratives and clarifications
- Basis of estimate presentation to Director, VP, President, etc.
- Familiarize with bid documents and prepare staking sheets and budgets
- Conduct visits to job sites as needed
- Communicate project status and assignments to the team
- Establish and maintain relationships with customers
- Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- 8–12+ years in T&D estimating and/or profession
- Experience mentoring junior estimators and leading multi‑disciplinary teams
- Valid, Active Driver's License
Upon offer, employees will be required to complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background, and MVR check.
Preferred- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or engineering
- Software:
Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Excel - Estimating Software: HCSS/Heavy Bid, B2W, In Eight
- Technical: NESC and OSHA 1926 Subpart V interpretation, PLS‑CADD, GIS
- Certifications:
OSHA‑30; PMP/CPE/PE/EIT - Strong technical writing
- Estimating mastery, financial acumen, collaboration across engineering/PM/procurement/field
- Excellent communication skills for client, team, and executive interactions.
- Good understanding of blueprints and drawings and strong plan & profile interpretation
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
- Self‑starter and motivated to complete assigned task
- Mathematics — Using mathematics to solve problems
- Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
