Cardiac Electrophysiologist (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Cardiac Electrophysiologist provides specialized cardiovascular care focused on the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm disorders. This role includes invasive and non-invasive electrophysiology services, procedural management, and longitudinal care of patients with arrhythmias, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary cardiology and cardiovascular care teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, supra ventricular tachycardia, ventricular arrhythmias, and conduction disorders
- Perform electrophysiology procedures consistent with training and privileges, including diagnostic EP studies, catheter ablation, and device implantation and management (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices)
- Provide pre‑procedural assessment and post‑procedural follow‑up care
- Interpret electrophysiology studies, device interrogations, and ambulatory rhythm monitoring
- Provide inpatient electrophysiology consultation services and outpatient clinic care
- Collaborate with general cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, heart failure, and primary care teams
- Participate in on‑call coverage for electrophysiology services as required
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, procedural risks, and long‑term management
- Supervise and educate fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, or clinical staff as applicable
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
- Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
- Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship
- Completion of an accredited Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship
- Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Cardiovascular Disease
- Board certification or eligibility in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
- Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
- DEA registration or eligibility
- Expertise in electrophysiology procedures and arrhythmia management
- Strong clinical judgment and procedural decision‑making skills
- Ability to manage complex cardiovascular patients
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Commitment to evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and patient safety
- Electrophysiology laboratories, cardiac catheterization labs, inpatient hospital units, and outpatient cardiology clinics
- Call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to stand for extended periods during procedures
- Manual dexterity and stamina for catheter‑based interventions
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for procedural and clinical care
