After School Site Coordinator – YMCA of the Black Hills

Starting Pay: $17.00+ per hour DOE

Location:

Rapid City, SD

Shift: Monday – Friday 1 pm – 6 pm, plus an hour meeting during the week, for 26 hours per week

Are you a natural leader with a passion for youth development? The YMCA of Rapid City is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to join our team as a Kidstop Site Coordinator for the 2025‑2026 school year. This role is essential in delivering a high-quality after school experience for local children-and offers the chance to make a lasting impact every day.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of a Kidstop site, creating a welcoming and enriching environment for elementary and middle school students.
  • Implement age-appropriate curriculum and shape a space that supports structure and fun.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of staff performance, offer constructive feedback, and foster a culture of recognition and growth.
  • Mentor staff and create a cohesive, motivated team environment.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with principals, teachers, and administrative staff to align program goals with school objectives.
  • Communicate with families, keep parents informed about their child's experience and progress, and cultivate a trustworthy connection.
  • Manage lesson plans, maintain safety protocols, oversee equipment and supplies, and ensure accurate record-keeping for attendance, incidents, and program reports.
  • Attend and contribute to regular meetings with other Site Coordinators and the Youth Development team.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching or working with children in an educational or youth program setting.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with school staff, parents, and YMCA members.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
Requirements

Minimum teaching experience or strong background in youth programming, with leadership capabilities and a genuine passion for child development.
