As a Radiation Therapist, you will administer radiation treatments to cancer patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. You will be responsible for operating radiation therapy equipment, monitoring patient reactions to treatment, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during treatments.
Responsibilities and Duties- Review and interpret prescriptions and treatment plans from radiation oncologists.
- Position patients correctly for treatment and accurately target radiation beams.
- Operate linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment.
- Monitor patients during treatments and report any adverse reactions to the radiation oncologist.
- Educate patients on the treatment process and potential side effects.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and ensure patient confidentiality.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients.
- Associate's degree in radiation therapy or related field.
- Certification in radiation therapy from an accredited program.
- State licensure as a Radiation Therapist.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in positioning patients for treatment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Compassion and empathy for cancer patients undergoing treatment.
