Position Overview
Wildlife Damage Program Manager will provide supervisory oversight and administrative support to 9 regional Wildlife Damage Specialists, develop and modify training plans and work schedules, and manage expenditures for a budget totaling $1.4 million dollars. The incumbent will assist with and facilitate meetings with landowners, predator districts, and the public, supervises field activities, and coordinates state houndsman responses for depredation calls involving mountain lions and black bears.
Some travel and a state vehicle may be provided.
- Develop and modify training plans and work schedules for Wildlife Damage Specialists.
- Oversee and manage expenditures for a budget totaling $1.4 million.
- Assist with and facilitate meetings with landowners and predator districts covering predator damage to livestock and game animal damage to stored feeds.
- Provide in‑field supervision to regional staff and answer questions from members of the public.
- Travel as required; primary depredating species include coyotes, beaver, elk, mule deer, white‑tailed deer, and turkeys.
- Supervise and provide oversight for the state houndsman regarding depredation calls involving mountain lions and black bears.
- Demonstrated history and experience with animal damage control programs and the variety of tools used.
- Experience in the use and practical application of firearms including shotguns, rifles and handguns.
- Supervisory experience.
- Proficiency with basic computer software including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prepare and present information to peers and the public.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Salary: minimum $27.84 hourly, depending on qualifications.
