Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and a valid SD or compact license for a high-acuity surgical department.
Responsibilities- Work in the Surgical Services department with 10 operating rooms running Monday through Friday,
- Covers a variety of surgical specialties including urology, neuro, ortho, robotic, general, podiatry, ENT, gynecology, and trauma cases
- Patient ratios are 1:1 in the OR, 1:2 in Pre-Op, and 1:1 or 1:2 in PACU Phase I depending on acuity, and 1:2-3 in PACU Phase II
- Uses EPIC for charting, with Omnicell and Alaris equipment
- 8-hour variable shifts, 40 hours per week with weekend rotation
- Call is typically one overnight per week (7p-7a) and every third weekend from Friday 1500 to Monday 0700, with a 15-minute response time
- Floating may occur to Endo, Pre Op, PACU, or floor as needed, limited to supporting roles outside peri-op services
- Daily duties include intraoperative and perioperative care in a tertiary care environment
- Strong team support including RNs, first assists, surgical techs, CRNAs, nurse clinicians, service line leads, and anesthesia staff
- One week of orientation provided
- Scrubs are provided
- Two out of four major holidays are required within the coverage period
- Free parking is available on site
- Sleep rooms and comfortable break rooms are provided during on-call shifts
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in a level 1 or 2 trauma setting
- Completion of an approved nursing education program
- Experience with trauma, ortho-trauma, neuro, general, and robotic surgery including Da Vinci XI, SP, and DV5 platforms
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR preferred
- Must live over 100 miles from the facility
- Permanent staff must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not accepted without manager approval
