American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a 48-hour/week night shift contract requiring at least one prior travel assignment and 2 years of ICU experience.
Details- 39-bed mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) divided into pods
- 12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week
- Complex ICU patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases with a heavy trauma population
- Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma
- Cardiac experience preferred, including CABG/TAVR patients 24-48 hours post-op
- RN to patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and rarely 1:3 depending on acuity
- Floating not common unless overstaffed, but may float to any adult floor including Med-Surg/Tele at 1:4 ratio
- No on-call requirements
- Weekend rotation targeted at every other weekend, though not guaranteed
- Active RN license (SD or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC required prior to arrival
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, excluding travel experience
- Completion of an approved nursing education program
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Experience with hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills with ability to work well in a team setting
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with critically ill patients
- Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable committing to a 48-hour/week contract
- Unit supported by 1-2 CNAs per unit plus a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, and 24/7 respiratory therapy coverage
- 3 intensivists on days and 2 intensivists plus an APP on nights
- Peripheral blood draws performed by phlebotomy team, while ICU RNs place all midlines
- Orientation includes hospital orientation plus one 12-hour shift and one 8-hour shift on the ICU
- May be expected to precept nursing students
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available
- No RTO permitted during holidays or during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first three weeks of August)
- Time off requests of up to 7 days may be approved but must be adjusted to accommodate a full 13-week contract
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
- Previous permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
