We are seeking an Associate Polymer Scientist to support polymer characterization activities at our clients Raritan, NJ site. The Associate Polymer Scientist will work hands‑on in the lab under the direction of an appointed scientist, performing polymer characterization to support new product development and lifecycle management. The role focuses on executing established test methods, generating high-quality analytical data, and maintaining strong documentation practices in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.

Key areas of work include rheology, thermal analysis (DSC, DMA, TGA), and X‑ray diffraction (XRD), along with sample preparation, data analysis, and technical reporting. This position is well suited for a technically strong, detail‑oriented scientist who enjoys hands‑on laboratory work and collaborative project support. Experience in a GMP or GLP environment is preferred but not required.

Primary tasks include:
  • Operate and maintain instruments.
  • Perform rheology, thermal analysis (DSC, DMA, TGA), and XRD testing following test methods and procedures developed by the clients associates.
  • Analyze and report test results.
  • Work with the clients associates to develop new procedures and test methods for new projects.
  • Prepare and test samples within required turnaround time.
  • Analyze and report test results within required turnaround time.
  • Data entry using spreadsheet / word processing or laboratory information management software as requested.
  • Report any unexpected observation to the lab supervisor or corresponding SMEs.
  • Prepare technical reports with accurate interpretation of analytical data.
  • Train other personnel in methods when necessary.
  • Maintain and archive raw data per company procedures.
  • Maintain good documentation and lab notebook per company procedures.
  • Maintain calibration and maintenance records for applicable instruments.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain laboratory spaces to be audit ready and participate in lab safety inspections.
  • Conduct other laboratory tasks when assigned.
  • Perform other polymer characterization, such as microscopy, wet chemistry. Follow SOP instructions on sample preparation and data analysis as requested.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in polymer science, chemistry, material science, or related science is required.
  • A minimum one (1) year related working experience is preferred. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience in polymer characterization including thermal analysis (DSC, DMA, TGA), rheology, and XRD testing is highly desired.
  • Experience with method development is preferred.
  • Must be observant, accountable, and curious about fundamental science.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively collaborate and communicate with other team members.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize the work flow independently.
  • Experience in GLP/GMP environment is a plus.
