The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and supporting the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities- Record and maintain daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and general ledger accounts.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Monitor cash flow and support treasury-related activities.
- Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Support internal and external audit requirements by providing necessary documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and assist in implementing financial controls.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, Tally, Zoho Books, Quick Books, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of VAT regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience handling VAT filing and FTA compliance.
- Familiarity with UAE labour cost allocations and payroll accounting.
- Experience in construction or contracting industries (as applicable).
