Design Manager

Sphere recruitment is working with a leading UAE-based real estate developer, headquartered in Ras Al Khaimah, seeking a high-calibre Design Manager to lead our group-wide design framework and oversee a flagship AED 3bn project in Abu Dhabi. This role will be key in defining the companies design and brand for all it's luxury developments

• Own and evolve the company-wide design framework, standards, and governance across all asset classes.
• Lead design strategy and delivery for a major Abu Dhabi development (AED 3bn), from concept through handover.
• Drive design excellence, value engineering, and sustainability outcomes aligned with brand and commercial targets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (architects, engineers, specialists), ensuring timely, cost-aligned, buildable solutions.
• Manage external consultants, design competitions/RFPs, and ensure quality, compliance, and risk control.
• Interface with development, project management, commercial, procurement, and construction teams.
• Oversee authorities liaison and approvals; ensure codes and local standards are met (e.g., DMT/ADM, Estidama).
• Champion BIM/DI, design QA/QC, change control, and technical reviews.
• Report on design progress, risks, and decisions to senior leadership.

• 10+ years’ experience in design management for large-scale real estate or mixed-use projects in the GCC/UAE.
• Degree in Architecture, or related discipline; chartership/licensure preferred.
• Proven track record delivering complex, multi-phase projects from feasibility to completion.
• Expertise in consultant management, contracts (e.g., FIDIC), budgets, schedules, and value engineering.
• Fluency with BIM-led coordination and design technology.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to split time between RAK HQ and Abu Dhabi site/offices as required.
