The Secondary English Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English lessons in accordance with the
British Curriculum
, enabling students to develop strong skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary and literary analysis.
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for secondary students in line withthe British Curriculum.
- Teach English Language and English Literature, as appropriate tothe school's Key Stage and examinationspecifications.
- Develop students' reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
- Teach a widerange of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama and literarytexts.
- Prepare students for
GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level or other relevant British examinations
, where applicable. - Develop students' analytical, critical-thinking, creative-writing and communication skills.
- Plan lessons withclear learning objectives, appropriate challenge and measurable outcomes.
- Differentiate learning activities and resources tomeet the needsof students with different abilities, including high-achieving students and students requiringadditional support.
- Use a rangeof teaching strategies to promote active participation, independent learning and student engagement.
- Regularly assess students' progress through formativeand summative assessment.
- Provide constructive andtimely feedback thathelps students improve their work.
- Maintain accurate recordsof student attainment, progress and assessment.
- Use assessment datato identify learninggaps and adaptteaching accordingly.
- Establish high expectations for behaviour, effort, academic achievement and personal development.
- Excellent classroom-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural and linguisticbackgrounds
- Experience teaching
GCSE/IGCSE English Language and Literature
