About Your Team

You will report to the Engineering Manager and play a pivotal role within the Engineering Department, supporting engineering, procurement, production, and installation teams by providing technical expertise on materials, finishes, fabrication requirements, and quality compliance to ensure efficient manufacturing and project execution.

Your Role

As a Materials Engineer, you will manage and oversee all material-related technical activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, production requirements, cost targets, and delivery timelines.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Review and approve materials, finishes, and hardware to ensure compliance with project specifications and production requirements
  • Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams on material submittals, samples, substitutions, and lead times
  • Support production teams with technical guidance on materials, fabrication methods, finishes, and manufacturability
  • Monitor material quality and resolve production or installation-related issues
  • Support value engineering, waste reduction, and material optimization initiatives
  • Maintain approved material lists, technical documentation, and fabrication standards
  • Research and introduce innovative materials and fabrication solutions to improve quality, sustainability, and efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout production and installation activities
What We’re Looking For

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in joinery, carpentry, interior fit-out, or bespoke manufacturing environments, with strong technical exposure to materials and fabrication processes
Knowledge:
  • Wood materials, veneers, laminates, solid surfaces, metals, finishes, joinery fabrication methods, CNC manufacturing, and material compliance standards
Expertise:
  • Material selection, technical coordination, value engineering, quality control, material tracking, and production optimization
Top Skills
  • Degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Strong understanding of bespoke joinery production processes and material behavior
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, CAD models, and material submittals
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical coordination abilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, ERP/MRP systems, and project management software
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation control skills
  • Commitment to quality standards, sustainability, and continuous improvement
