Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Material Engineer to join our team on a major infrastructure project in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing materials related to roads, utilities, and infrastructure works, ensuring that all materials comply with project specifications, approved standards, and relevant authority requirements.
- Review and approve material submittals, technical data sheets, samples, and material proposals for road and infrastructure works.
- Ensure materials used on site comply with approved project specifications, drawings, method statements, and relevant standards.
- Monitor and oversee the testing and inspection of materials used for roads, pavements, earthworks, and underground utilities.
- Review laboratory and field test results and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with the Contractor, Consultant, QA/QC team, and testing laboratories regarding material approvals and testing requirements.
- Conduct site inspections to verify the quality and suitability of delivered and installed materials.
- Review material sources, suppliers, and manufacturers and ensure they are approved in accordance with project requirements.
- Monitor materials including aggregates, subgrade, subbase, road base, asphalt, concrete, cement, back filling materials, and utility-related materials.
- Ensure appropriate testing is carried out for soil, compaction, asphalt, concrete, and other infrastructure materials.
- Review and maintain records of material approvals, inspection requests, test reports, and material delivery documentation.
- Identify non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions with the relevant project teams.
- Support the QA/QC team in investigating material-related quality issues and implementing corrective measures.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and protection of materials on site.
- Provide technical advice regarding material selection and suitability for road and utility construction.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and authorities where required to ensure compliance with applicable UAE and RAK standards and specifications.
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 15 years of work experience partnered with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in materials engineering, preferably on roads, infrastructure, utilities, or major civil construction projects.
- Strong experience with road construction materials, pavement works, earthworks, and underground utilities.
- Experience in material testing, laboratory testing, field testing, and quality control.
- Knowledge of relevant ASTM, AASHTO, BS, EN, and UAE specifications and standards.
- Experience reviewing and approving material submittals and material sources.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and material inspection processes.
- Previous experience working with consultants/PMCs and contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.
- UAE or GCC infrastructure project experience is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
