Role

Purpose:

To analyze, model, and design hydrological systems for flood mitigation, and strategic and urban drainage infrastructure master planning.

Role Scope:
Leading detailed engineering and design of flood mitigation structures and urban drainage systems and working with other Department engineers to produce integrated infrastructure design solutions.

Budgetary Control: n/a

External Interfaces:
Service Providers, PSD, Consultants, Contractors (sharing information, building relationships, influencing)

Internal Interfaces:
All organization Units

  • Conduct Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling and Contribute to Hydrological Master plan to simulate surface water events for flood risk assessment, catchment management, and infrastructure master planning.
  • Monitor and Analyze Hydrological Data to collect, interpret, and manage data from available data, to support water resource management and policy development.
  • Lead design, assessment, and maintenance planning of dams, ponds, drainage systems, and flood control infrastructure including production of detailed design drawings, specifications, BoQs and other documents needed to inform construction.
  • Support Floodplain Mapping and Risk Analysis using GIS and remote sensing tools to delineate flood zones and support development management and flood response.
  • Provide Technical Input for Water Resource Policies regarding climate change adaptation, drought resilience, and water allocation strategies.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders and Regulatory Bodies to share findings, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to sustainable water resource management plans.
  • Provide hydrological and urban drainage solution engineering design inputs into the department's ongoing projects to support the department objectives.

    Qualification:

    Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
  • Preferred Educational

    Qualification:

    Masters in Hydrology or related
  • Minimum Experience:

    12+ years relevant industry experience
  • Preferred Experience:

    15+ years relevant industry experience
  • Preferred

    Certifications:

    Project Management certification and Chartered engineer
