Overview
The QC Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and enforcing quality control systems across the armored vehicle manufacturing cycle. This includes armor steel fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, ballistic glass installation, final vehicle integration, and PDI. The role ensures that all vehicles meet engineering drawings, ballistic standards, customer specifications, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
Responsibilities- Quality Management System — Develop and maintain quality control procedures, inspection plans, and control points for armored vehicle production. Implement incoming, in-process, and final inspection systems. Ensure compliance with technical drawings, BOMs, customer specifications, internal standards, and applicable ISO or military requirements. Maintain full traceability and quality documentation.
- Incoming Quality Control (IQC) — Inspect incoming materials and components (e.g., armored steel, ballistic glass, structural parts, fasteners, mechanical and electrical items). Verify certificates, material test reports, ballistic certificates, dimensions, thickness, and batch traceability. Approve or reject materials and issue non-conformance reports. Coordinate corrective actions with procurement and suppliers.
- In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) — Control critical production stages including cutting, bending, welding, machining, capsule assembly, and vehicle integration. Verify welding quality, geometry, penetration, and dimensional accuracy. Ensure correct assembly sequence and routing compliance. Stop production in case of critical quality or safety risks.
- Final Inspection and PDI — Lead final quality inspection prior to vehicle release. Control capsule integrity, door alignment, sealing, ballistic glass installation, fit and finish, and functional systems. Supervise PDI activities and approve vehicle acceptance for delivery. Ensure compliance with customer delivery checklists and contractual requirements.
- Non-Conformance and Corrective Actions — Investigate defects, rework cases, and customer claims. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions. Track recurring defects and initiate process improvements. Coordinate actions with production, engineering, and procurement.
- Documentation and Reporting — Maintain inspection reports, NCRs, certificates, and acceptance protocols. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports. Support internal, customer, and external audits.
- Team Management — Manage and train QC inspectors and supervisors. Define inspection responsibilities and shift coverage. Ensure inspectors understand drawings, tolerances, and quality standards. Enforce objectivity and discipline in quality decisions.
- Continuous Improvement — Introduce quality KPIs such as defect rate, rework rate, and first-pass yield. Participate in production optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. Support engineering in design and process improvements.
- Education — Engineering degree in mechanical, automotive, industrial, or related field preferred.
- Experience — 5–7 years in quality control or manufacturing; minimum 3 years in armored vehicle, automotive, heavy machinery, or defense manufacturing.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and vehicle assembly processes.
- Experience with inspection tools and measurement equipment.
- Familiarity with ERP or quality documentation systems is an advantage.
- High attention to detail and integrity.
- Strong decision-making and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work under production pressure.
- Clear communication with production and management.
